Synthetic Fused Silica

Fused Silica is a synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide. AGI maintains an inventory of approximately 18,000 lbs of fused silica. Fused Silica can be made to have the following characteristics:

Excellent Homogeneity
Bubble and inclusion free
Very Low stress Birefringence
Good for transmission from the Deep UV to the Near IR
Thermally temperature stable
Low coefficient of linear expansion
Good in three directions
High working temperature
Knoop Hardness 200gm load 500kg/mm2
Standard Optical fabrication techniques can be used to polish
