Synthetic Fused Silica

Fused Silica is a synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide. Fused Silica can be made to have the following characteristics:

• Excellent Homogeneity
• Bubble and inclusion free
• Very Low stress Birefringence
• Good for transmission from the Deep UV to the Near IR
• Thermally temperature stable
• Low coefficient of linear expansion
• Good in three directions
• High working temperature
• Knoop Hardness 200gm load 500kg/mm2
• Standard Optical fabrication techniques can be used to polish
